Video Defense - Thesis Exhibition

OVERVIEW:

Students will be going up in front of a small audience to deliver a lecture on their exhibition (these videos will be uploaded to YouTube as private videos, and will be shared with select faculty and peers). This video presentation will consist of a ~7-minute talk which the student will screen record a presentation of their research and work using QuickTime screen recording and the built-in microphone, or a Windows alternative, for example. This event would typically be thought of as a professional event with appropriate dress. Likewise, do speak professionally and accordingly for this adapted video format.

FORMAT CRITERIA:

● Consist 20 slides (about 20 secs. Per slide) (Pecha Kucka presentation format)

● Must be formatted for up-to-date PowerPoint or keynote.

● Should most be (90%) images (not text-heavy, just read from your notes/outline)

○ Images of process

○ Images of final installed work

○ Influences with specific connections

● Cited professionally

● Should have presenter notes or notecards to reference

● Must be turned in as a video file with audio (your voice)

● Must also turn in presenter notes or personal notes for lecture

Talk: The talks will be given following a “PechaKucha” storytelling format. This is where a presenter shows 20 slides for 20 seconds of commentary each (6 min. and 40 seconds total).
